Based in London’s Ealing Studios, MetFilm Production is an independent production company making high-quality documentary and fiction films.

Latest films include MISHA AND THE WOLVES directed by Sam Hobkinson, which had its World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival 2021; THE REASON I JUMP directed by Jerry Rothwell, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival 2020 and won Best Documentary at BIFA 2021; and the fiction film 23 WALKS starring Alison Steadman and Dave Johns, which was theatrically released in the UK in 2020 and will open in the US in summer 2021. Other recent releases include thriller documentary LAST BREATH,  comedy SWIMMING WITH MEN, starring Rob Brydon and directed by Oliver Parker, documentary SOUR GRAPES and the award-winning HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD, which premiered at Hot Docs and Sundance respectively.

Previous films include hit comedy THE INFIDEL starring Omid Djalili, Grierson-winner DEEP WATER, FRENCH FILM starring Hugh Bonneville, Sarah Gavron’s VILLAGE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, Jeanie Finlay’s THE GREAT HIP HOP HOAX and BAFTA-winning short SEPTEMBER by Esther May Campbell.

Stewart le Maréchal

Producer, Head of MetFilm Production

Stewart is a BAFTA-winning producer and head of MetFilm Production. His latest fiction film is 23 WALKS directed by Paul Morrison, starring Dave Johns and Alison Steadman, and his latest feature documentaries are THE REASON I JUMP directed by Jerry Rothwell, which premiered at Sundance 2020 and the Sundance 2021 Competition entry MISHA AND THE WOLVES.

Previous fiction producing credits include SWIMMING WITH MEN, directed by Oliver Parker and starring Rob Brydon; THE INFIDEL starring Omid Djalili; FRENCH FILM starring Hugh Bonneville; and LITTLE ASHES starring Robert Pattinson. Feature documentary credits as executive producer include Alex Parkinson & Richard da Costa’s LAST BREATH; Jerry Rothwell’s HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD and SOUR GRAPES; Sarah Gavron’s THE VILLAGE AT THE END OF THE WORLD; and Jeanie Finlay’s THE GREAT HIP HOP HOAX. He produced Esther May Campbell’s short film, SEPTEMBER, which won BAFTA Best Short Film.

Stew is a member of BAFTA, the ACE producers network, and an alumnus of the Inside Pictures programme.

Al Morrow

Producer, Head of Documentary

Al is an award-winning producer and Head of Documentary at MetFilm Production. She produced LAST BREATH (Netflix/BBC/ZDF Arte), SOUR GRAPES directed by Jerry Rothwell and Reuben Atlas for Netflix, Arte, and VPRO, and HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD directed by Jerry Rothwell (Sky Atlantic/BFI/Impact Partners/CTV), which premiered at Sundance 2015 and won the World Cinema Special Jury Award: Editing and the IDA Pare Lorentz Award.

Previous films include Jeanie Finlay’s films PANTOMIME (BBC Storyville) and THE GREAT HIP HOP HOAX(BBC/Creative Scotland); Sarah Gavron’s THE VILLAGE AT THE END OF THE WORLD, which premiered at BFI LFF 2012; Jerry Rothwell’s TOWN OF RUNNERS (ITVS/Britdoc C4), which premiered at Tribeca 2012; the Grierson-nominated DONOR UNKNOWN (More4/ITVS/Arte); MEN WHO SWIM (BBC Storyville/Arte/SVT/VPRO) winner of the Audience Award at Silverdocs 2010; HEAVY LOAD (BBC Storyville, IFCtv, ITVS); and DEEP WATER (Pathe/UKFC/FilmFour), Grierson Award winner for Best Cinema Documentary.

Al’s latest film are Jerry Rothwell’s THE REASON I JUMP, which premiered at Sundance 2020 and Sam Hobkinson’s Sundance 2021 Competition entry MISHA AND THE WOLVES.

Anna Mohr-Pietsch

Producer, Head of Development

Anna is a Producer and Head of Development at MetFilm Production. Her most recent feature film, 23 WALKS, which was theatrically released in the UK in 2020 and will open in the US in summer 2021. Together with Stewart le Maréchal, Anna is responsible for producing, developing, and managing a diverse slate of fiction projects for film and TV, with special emphasis on sourcing stories from MetFilm’s documentary output for narrative adaptation. The most recent example is the Oliver Parker comedy SWIMMING WITH MEN starring Rob Brydon, based on documentary MEN WHO SWIM. There are also several other doc-to-fiction remakes in the pipeline. 

Anna brings her in-depth knowledge and experience of converting documentary IP into fiction projects to her colleagues at MetFilm Sales, providing advice for filmmakers, and routes to future partnerships.

Prior to joining MetFilm, Anna held roles at The Weinstein Company and Working Title Films, where she was involved in the acquisition, development, production, and distribution of such award-winning films as THE KING’S SPEECH, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, THE ROAD, NOWHERE BOY, ATONEMENT, FROST/NIXON, and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. Anna has also worked extensively as a script consultant and has produced, EP’d, and production managed shorts.

Jerry Rothwell

Filmmaker, Executive Producer

Jerry is a filmmaker whose work includes the award-winning feature documentaries: THE REASON I JUMP, based on the bestselling book by Naoki Higashida; THE SCHOOL IN THE CLOUD, about radical educationalist, Sugata Mitra; HOW TO CHANGE THE WORLD, about the founders of Greenpeace; SOUR GRAPES (co-directed with Reuben Atlas) a film about a wine counterfeiter TOWN OF RUNNERS, about two girls in an Ethiopian village who aspire to be athletes; DONOR UNKNOWN, about a sperm donor and his many offspring; HEAVY LOAD, about a group of people with learning disabilities who form a punk band, and DEEP WATER (co-directed with Louise Osmond), about Donald Crowhurst’s ill-fated voyage in the 1968 round the world yacht race.

His work has won numerous accolades including two Grierson Awards, a Sundance Special Jury Prize, an RTS Award, the IDA Pare Lorentz Award, and a BAFTA nomination.

At MetFilm Production, he has exec produced and worked as an editor on numerous feature docs including Dylan Williams’ MEN WHO SWIM (now fiction feature SWIMMING WITH MEN starring Rob Brydon) and Sarah Gavron’s THE VILLAGE AT THE END OF THE WORLD.

Jonny Persey

Director of MetFilm

Jonny is the director of MetFilm, the founder of MetFilm Production and MetFilm Sales, and director of MetFilm School.

Jonny executive produced numerous documentaries, most recently the Sundance award-winner THE REASON I JUMP and Netflix hit LAST BREATH. He has also produced or executive produced a series of fiction films, including THE MERCY based on MetFilm Production’s documentary DEEP WATER, and SWIMMING WITH MEN based on MetFilm Production’s documentary MEN WHO SWIM.


MetFilm Sales

MetFilm Production operates alongside MetFilm Sales, a boutique international sales agency, which specialises in sales of high-end single documentaries and series.

Zak Brilliant

Head of MetFilm Sales & MetFilm Distribution

Zak Brilliant is an experienced film executive who first started his career at Polygram Filmed Entertainment, with tenures to follow at Universal Pictures and Icon Film Distribution. In 2019, he founded boutique UK distributor Republic Films which released 20 titles over a three-year period before being acquired by the MetFilm Group in late 2022. UK campaigns he has led on his career include LA VIE EN ROSE, MAN ON WIRE, DRIVE, A SINGLE MAN, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, THE BABADOOK, IT FOLLOWS, THE NICE GUYS, and FOR SAMA.


Mitch Clare

International Sales Manager

Prior to joining MetFilm in January 2022, Mitch spent three years at Parkland Pictures where he managed international sales, building a solid reputation with producers and strong commercial relationships with distributors from all over the world. Whilst there, he worked across documentary, television and fiction, including MetFilm Production’s 23 WALKS directed by Paul Morrison and starring Dave Johns and Alison Steadman.

Ella Pham

Festivals & Assets Manager

After completing a bachelor’s degree in Film Studies & English Literature in Lausanne, Switzerland, Ella moved to the UK to complete a master’s degree in Filmmaking: Business & Producing at MetFilm School, London.

Discovering the world of film sales while interning at MetFilm Production and MetFilm Sales upon completing her degree, she joined the team full-time as Festivals & Assets Manager.

Jenny Bohnhoff

Sales & Acquisitions Coordinator

Originally from Germany, Jenny completed a master’s degree in Neuroaesthetics in the US before being introduced to the world of factual programming as a News Assistant at CNN International. 

Having developed a keen interest in Sales and Distribution while working as the Production Assistant at MetFilm Production and MetFilm Sales, Jenny joined the MetFilm Sales team full-time in early 2020 as Sales & Acquisitions Coordinator.

Karen Simon

Marketing & Design

Having had a previous careers in publications and art fair management, Karen began working at MetFilm Production and MetFilm Sales while completing her master’s degree in film business and producing at MetFilm School, London.

A copywriter and editor by trade, Karen brings to MetFilm Sales her international experience in marketing and brand management, as well as her knowledge of print, digital, and web design.

Karen also works as an independent producer producing short form documentary, fiction, and branded content.


MetFilm Distribution

MetFilm Sales also operates alongside MetFilm Distribution, a boutique, all rights film distributor focusing on the best of British and World cinema.

Wayne D’Cruz

Distribution Manager

Before joining MetFilm, Wayne managed UK distribution at Dartmouth Films, releasing 35 independent documentary titles over a five-year period. Key theatrical campaigns he supported include box office successes THE PONDS and ERIC RAVILIOUS: DRAWN TO WAR, which won Screen International’s Big Screen award for Documentary Campaign of the year, BAFTA-winning DYING TO DIVORCE, and BIFA-winning CHILDREN OF THE SNOW LAND. A key non-theatrical success was RESILIENCE, which had a direct impact on the health policy objectives of the Scottish government. In 2019, Wayne won Rising Star at the Screen Awards. Before embarking on a career in film distribution, Wayne earned his MA from King’s College London for his study on emerging distribution practices in the British film industry.
