MetFilm Production’s The School in the Cloud directed by Jerry Rothwell, had its World Premiere at CPH:Dox 2018. The premiere also marked the first finished film for MetFilm Sales who are handling the worldwide rights for the documentary.
Following TED Prize-winner Sugata Mitra, The School in the Cloud looks at this scientist’s quest to install an unmanned Internet booth in a remote village of India’s Bengal region. As the youth of the village have access to the Internet for the first time, The School in the Cloud asks if it can be used to transform their lives, while also questioning the future of education in a connected world.
Following the premiere, Sugata Mitra, TED Prize Director Anna Verghase, and Director Jerry Rothwell took park in a Q&A. Additionally, Mitra and Verghase gave a talk for the festival’s Science strand, and Rothwell hosted a masterclass with Laura Nix entitled, ’How to Change the World One Film at a Time’.
With support from Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program and TED Prize Filmmaker Award, The School in the Cloud was produced by Al Morrow and Dan Demissie for MetFilm Production.
