Director Alex Parkinson receives the award for Best Documentary on his doorstep

THE REASON I JUMP at BFI London Film Festival

We are excited to share THE REASON I JUMP, our Sundance 2020 award winner by Jerry Rothwell, with British audiences for the very first time. No matter where you are in the UK, you can be part of the virtual BFI London Film Festival, and enjoy this very special preview, ahead of the film’s 2021 UK theatrical release by Picturehouse.

Tickets are going on sale for the general public from September 21. Book here: BFI Website.

Based on the bestselling book by Naoki Higashida, THE REASON I JUMP is an immersive cinematic exploration of neurodiversity through the experiences of nonspeaking autistic people from around the world. The film blends Higashida’s revelatory insights into autism, written when he was just 13, with intimate portraits of five remarkable young people. It opens a window into an intense and overwhelming, but often joyful, sensory universe.

The title premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and has since become an audience favorite at festivals including CPH:DOX, SXSW, HotDocs, and AFI Docs.

THE REASON I JUMP is directed by Jerry Rothwell and produced by Jeremy Dear (The Ideas Room), Stevie Lee (Runaway Fridge) and Al Morrow (MetFilm Production).
