Two MetFilm titles among Hot Docs Film Festival Special Presentation Line-Up

We are excited to share two MetFilm titles have been selected for special presentation at Hot Docs Film Festival 2021. 

Alba Sotorra’s powerful THE RETURN: LIFE AFTER ISIS and Sam Hobkinson’s Sundance Competition title MISHA AND THE WOLVES will be screened in the festival’s most prestigious strand showcasing only 15 titles. 

THE RETURN: LIFE AFTER ISIS provides exclusive access to a group of Western women who devoted their young lives to ISIS, including British recruit Shamima Begum, who fled the country with two school friends when she was just 15, and Hoda Muthana from the United States who allegedly incited her followers on Twitter to support the Islamic State.

THE RETURN: LIFE AFTER ISIS is an Alba Sotorra Production in association with MetFilm and Ronachan Films (Escape from ISIS, The UN Sex Abuse Scandal), directed and produced by Alba Sotorra. Also producing are Vesna Cudic of MetFilm Sales and Carles Torras. 

MISHA AND THE WOLVES is the dramatic tale of a woman whose Holocaust memoir took the world by storm, before a fallout with her publisher — who turned detective — revealed an audacious deception created to hide a darker truth. 

MISHA AND THE WOLVES is an Arts Alliance Productions, Met Film and Bright Yellow Films production in co-production with Las Belgas, Take Five and Apt Films, MISHA AND THE WOLVES is directed by Sam Hobkinson and produced by Poppy Dixon, Al Morrow, Matt Wells, Jurgen Buedts, and Gregory Zalcman.

The 2021 Hot Docs Festival will be available for audiences across Canada to stream April 29 to May 9. See the full special presentation line-up here.
